Natural stones, whether marble, granite, slate or limestone were formed many 100's of millions of years ago from crustaceous or volcanic magma deposits. Man has used this medium since the Stone Age; initially, as tools, furniture and shelter, until today, when apart from its practicalities we enjoy the beauty and individuality of the materials.

Over the centuries, quarrying techniques have changed considerably, especially through the development of diamond cutting which has made previously uneconomic deposits worthwhile thus opening up new colours and types previously denied. Furthermore the discovery of obscure regions of third world countries has been rewarded by even more types of colours, and the vast improvement of intercontinental transport and communications has brought almost limitless choice to our doors.

Our factory - Thibaut and finishing areaThis new technology has also dramatically reduced the waste and potential damage to the landscapes of the world making reinstatement of closed seams acceptable to even the most ardent conservationists.

As manufacturers of finished products our care and attention is equally as important and our respect for the materials has allowed us to forge solid relationships with quarries and saw mills throughout Europe and beyond.

For in excess of 25 years Sussex Marble has been responsible for the transformation of private and commercial properties using an ever-increasing number of natural stones. As a small privately owned company, the Directors are proud to promise that every product whether small or large will be personally supervised by one of them, from the purchase of the raw material through design, manufacture and onto installation of the finished work.

In recent years we have invested heavily in new equipment allowing us to achieve the most complicated of tasks in the hardest of stones and still deliver on time without any compromise to quality.

From concept to completion our experience of Natural Stone is vast, but knowledge should never stand still and in order to stay ahead we value our active involvement with both the Granite Guild and the National Federation Of Terrazzo Marble and Mosaic Specialists.
